Credits and licences

Vamoto builds on open data and open-source software. Their licences permit commercial use and remain in effect when you use Vamoto.

Map and routing data

Map, routing, address and place data are © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence 1.0 (ODbL). Vamoto processes this data into offline databases and adds inferred road surfaces and scenic-road information. OSM water polygons and lake-label centerlines also derive from OpenStreetMap. Natural Earth outlines are public domain; Wikidata structured names, where included, are CC0.

Map design and assets

The app's map design credits © OpenMapTiles (CC BY 4.0), OSM Liberty and its Mapbox Open Styles ancestry (including CC BY 3.0), adapted from OpenFreeMap. Vamoto changes colours, layers and offline sources. Noto Sans and Bricolage Grotesque are licensed under SIL OFL 1.1. Maki map icons are CC0. Altitude correction uses NGA EGM96 in GeographicLib grid format.

Public map database offer

Vamoto offers the OSM-derived routing, place, address and scenic databases distributed with its map packs under ODbL 1.0. You may obtain machine-readable copies free of charge through the public release index and its catalog, without an account or subscription. This offer covers the published pack databases, including Vamoto's modifications. It does not include anyone's private rides, account data or imported tracks.

You must keep the required attribution and licence notices, and distribute covered derivative databases under ODbL when its share-alike conditions apply. Vamoto's app or subscription terms do not restrict those data rights. The licence does not require Vamoto's application code to be open source. Map design and rendered works retain their separately stated licences.

Software and full licence texts

Routing uses Valhalla; map rendering uses MapLibre. The app uses Flutter and its packages. Native libraries, map assets and their copyright and licence texts are listed in the downloadable notices. The app also includes its Flutter package notices under Settings → About and help → Credits and licences, available offline.

Vamoto and contributed content

Ride photographs are supplied by Vamoto's owner; the guidance chime is generated for Vamoto. Names and sign-in marks belong to their respective owners and do not imply endorsement. Your private ride and account data are not made public by the map-data licence. See the privacy policy for storage and sharing.
